Boston’s Downtown Crossing/Midtown is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the United States dating back as far as the 17th century. It was once we hit the 19th century that the area had been recognized as a retail district with the opening of the Filene’s store. The once Beaux Arts building stood at the current site of what is now the Millennium Tower.
Historically the neighborhood had a bustling daytime with shopping, business and industry and by contrast quiet streets at night. Today the Downtown and Midtown neighborhoods are not only replete with business, but are becoming popular residential areas with countless buildings being built or are in the planning stages.
Located near the Back Bay’s shopping, The Boston Common, Beacon Hill, Financial District and a few blocks to the water make for a prime location to live.
